Faux fur and flowing fabrics interspersed with lurex and sequins in a way that is anything but bad taste

Review of Pinko

Product range. Women's apparel, footwear, handbags, and accessories. The brand is renowned for its deep plunge blazers and lightweight drapey maxi dresses, once advertised by the likes of Naomi Campbell. Pinko offer both faux fur coats and their other signature items on a par with generic basics.

Originality. Pinko champion the decisively French style of fashion: relaxed, sensual, and free of menswear allusions. Classic items and basics are subject to reinvention and are never kitschy if replete with fur, fringes, lace, lurex, sequins, and rhinestones.

Chic. Arguable. Pinko obviously follow the catwalk trends, but still within the limits of time-honoured styles and colourways.

Pricing. Pinko target upper middle class audiences. Tops and jeans start from €100, trench coats could cost up to €300.

Corporate history highlights. The company started out in the early 1980s as 'Cris Conf', a joint venture of two aspiring Italian entrepreneurs Pietro Negra and Cristina Rubini. Having been encouraged by the success of their first undertakings, the company soon set new ambitious objectives and as the result launched Pinko.
