Review of DKNY

Product range. All lines by DKNY (itself a diffusion line of Donna Kran New York label) feature functional, yet elegant clothing: dresses, tops, skirts, and trousers most often come in loose-fitting silhouettes and are made of soft flowing fabrics like organic silk or cashmere. Within the mostly understated apparel range there're always several pieces with a hint of extravaganza: a chunky cropped mock neck sweater, a ripped rose or a rose plaid bomber jackets, or a red lace up maxi skirt. Menswear line by DKNY is free of such experimental inclinations.

Originality. Perhaps, the most iconic DKNY products is not a piece of clothing but Be Delicious fragrance known for its iconic green apple-shaped bottle.

Chic. Lives up to the expectations. DKNY does not imitate runway pieces by Donna Karan New York but their collections always look relevant nonetheless.

Pricing. As one would expect from an upscale brand.

Corporate history highlights. Donna Karan is one of New York icons alongside the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. In the 1980s, Karan made a revolution in fashion by introducing bodysuits, the concept of 'Seven Easy Pieces', and a new take on cold shoulder dresses. She succeeded in making both luxury and more affordable apparel collections for working women with the focus on functionality, comfort and elegance. Finally, in 1984 she launched DKNY, a diffusion line of its mainline label mainline label Donna Karan New York. Karan herself called DKNY 'the pizza to collection’s caviar'. She made clothing for the creative class known for being quintessential multitaskers who are always in motion. This is what 'New York' stands for in DKNY. This city sets the fast-paced daily rhythm of life reflected in the brand's concept and its perception by the customer.
