Review of Merc

Product range. Menswear is inspired by Swinging London of the 1960s. At the core of the range are modern retro staples like polo shirts, cardigans with jacquard on the front, mac and pea coats, loafers and brogues, ties and suspenders available in the signature colourways.

Originality. Desmond Dekker button down shirts, Quadrophenia Mods fishtale parkas, rudeboy suits, and a range of other period items from the 1960s are all available not only from London vintage stores, but also at Merc.

Chic. Merc is not on-trend but remains true to its DNA. This is why all-Merc outfit is most likely to look somewhat old-fashioned.

Pricing. Affordable, but certainly not dirt cheap. On average, shirts cost €40 to €60, trousers are just about the same, a jacquard jumper is a tad more pricey. A piece of outerwear is €100 to €200.

Corporate history highlights. Merc originated as a market stall on Carnaby Street, London, that was the heart of the mod craze back in 1967. Handmade blazers and harringtons were soon hyped by London fashionistas which backed Merc to move to a modest shop nearby, only to finish up at Carnaby Street as a monobrand store.
