Product range. Quicksilver staples are extreme sports clothes and footwear. That said, the brand has long moved well beyond the sportswear market. Quiksilver position themselves as a maker of clothing for the young who enjoy active lifestyles. Their collections that always feature comfy casuals fit nicely this mission statement.

Originality. Quiksilver is not about ordinary men's sportswear, the brand is catered to the needs of extreme sports enthusiasts. The emphasis is put on surf and snow lines. Unlike wetsuits and boardshorts, windproof snowjackets in acid colours proved popular worldwide. Quicksilver casuals, however, border on the nondescript.

Chic. Grey hoodies are neither on-trend, nor iconic, but they sell and their popularity shows no signs of abatement. The same applies to the rest of the Quiksilver range.

Pricing. Inexpensive. Sweatshirts are available for about £50, jeans are £65, while sportswear is ridiculously cheap by any standard.

Trivia. The Quicksilver logo was designed by Alan Green, the company founder, and was inspired by 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa', a famous woodprint by Katsushika Hokusai.
